Claude Barthélémy is a guitarist, Oud player, and jazz composer.
A leading artist on the French music scene, he has continued to multiply his experiences in all artistic spheres since his debut in 1978 with Michel Portal.
Jazz, contemporary music, song, dance, theater, shows and events… no field of musical expression escapes Claude Barthélémy’s creative bulimia; his eclectic discography bears witness to this. If his artistic career shows a predilection for orchestral work (from trio to Big Band, through to the symphony orchestra), he also likes the more intimate and contemplative expressions of the Oud, an arabic instrument with which he has had close ties for more than twenty years.
Claude Barthélémy has twice conducted the ONJ (Orchestre National de Jazz), from 1989 to 1991, and from 2002 to 2005.
