Claude Barthélémy is a guitarist, Oud player and jazz composer.
Leading artist on the French music scene, he kept on multiplying experiences in all artistic spheres since his debut in 1978 with Michel Portal.
Jazz, contemporary music, chanson, dance, theater, events curation… Each and every field of musical expression is swallowed by Claude Barthélémy’s creative appetite; his eclectic discography bears witness to this. If his artistic career shows a predilection for orchestral work (from trio to Big Band, through symphonic orchestra), he also likes the more intimate and contemplative expressions of the Oud, an arabic instrument with which he has had close ties for more than twenty years.
Claude Barthélémy has twice conducted the ONJ (National Jazz Orchestra), from 1989 to 1991, and from 2002 to 2005.
